Interior view of the ruins of Albert's basilica after the bombings of World War I (1914–15), with collapsed arches, walls riddled with shell holes, and debris of wood and stone scattered on the floor. On the reverse, handwritten correspondence mentioning 'the interior of the church' and 'German shells', addressed to Albertville, with illegible handwriting for the recipient and address.
