Description

Color illustration of Abraham Fabert, a French general born in Metz in 1599, depicted in armor with soldiers and workers in the background. The reverse details his biography: a cadet in the French guards, he distinguished himself in the sieges of Montpellier, Bapaume, Arras, and Sienay, became Marshal of France in 1658, governor of Metz, then of Sedan, where he died in 1662. It is noted that Louis XIII promised him command of the armies but did not grant it.
